Hon’ble Justice Ashish Jitendra Desai has joined as the first Presiding Officer of the Adjudicatory Board for Major Ports, constituted by the Central Government.

Hon’ble Justice Ashish Jitendra Desai was born on 05^th July, 1962 at Vadodara in the family of Judges and Lawyers. His Father late Mr. Justice Jitendra P. Desai was a       Judge    of the High Court of Gujarat from 1983 to 1989. Hon’ble Justice Ashish Jitendra Desai Graduated in B.A (Economics) from St. Xavier's College, Ahmedabad, in the year 1982 and obtained the Law Degree from Sir L.A. Shah Law College, Ahmedabad, in the year 1985.

He enrolled as an Advocate with Bar Council of Gujarat on 27^th November, 1985 and joined the Office of Advocate Mr. M.C. Bhatt and Mrs. Daksha M. Bhatt. He initially started practice at the City Civil & Sessions Court, Ahmedabad and since 1991 at the High Court of Gujarat.

He was appointed as an Assistant Government Pleader in the year 1994 and as an Additional Public Prosecutor in the year 1995 and continued to work till elevation. During 2006 to 2009, he was appointed as Central Government Standing Counsel.

He has been on the panel of Gujarat Electricity Board and Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited. He has appeared in large number of cases in various branches of law including matters of constitutional importance and involving great public interest and has also appeared in large number of all types of civil and criminal cases.

His Lordship was elevated as an Additional Judge of High Court of Gujarat on 21^st, November, 2011 and confirmed as permanent Judge on 06^th September, 2013. He was appointed as the Acting Chief Justice of the High Court of Gujarat from 26^th February, 2023 to 21^st July, 2023. Thereafter, his Lordship was Sworn-in as Chief Justice of the High Court of Kerala on 22^nd July, 2023 and retired on superannuation on 05^th July, 2024.
