Shri Chirravuri Viswanath, Member

Shri Chirravuri Viswanath, IAS (AP:1981) assumed charge as a Member of the Adjudicatory Board for Major Ports with effect from 08 September 2025.

Shri C. Viswanath had a brilliant academic record. He is a Post Graduate in Political Science from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi and did his Masters in Public Economic Management, Birmingham, UK.

Shri C. Viswanath has held many senior positions in Government of Andhra Pradesh and Government of India. He has handled several Departments like Environment & Forests, Irrigation, Information & Broadcasting, Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution,Personnel, Public Grievances Pension and Administrative Reforms.

As Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Environment & Forests, Shri C. Viswanath was instrumental in India ratifying the Kyoto Protocol on Climate Change. As Joint Secretary in Department of Food & Public Distribution he drafted the National Food Security Act. As Chairman & Managing Director, Food Corporation of India he successfully ensured liquidation of old stocks; enhancement of storage capacity; exploring alternate modes of transportation; mechanization; e-auction and other IT initiatives. As Secretary, Department of Consumer Affairs Shri Viswanath was actively involved in championing the cause of Consumer Advocacy. He also drafted the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 and  Consumer Protection Act, 2019. As Secretary in Departments of Personnel, Pensions, Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, several reforms were introduced. Civil Services Day 2017 was a grand success. Shri Viswanath as a Member in National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC), had disposed of several cases and delivered Landmark Judgments.
